Held

"When we choose ourselves, we no longer have to carry every battle alone."

Held is an original fine art drawing by Anika Shamanka, depicting an ancient protector — beyond ordinary human — who could be a God, a Demon King, or a timeless force. He holds a woman who has earned the right to surrender for a while.

The tension between strength and surrender, protection and vulnerability is at the heart of this work. Who is truly holding whom? The woman is not weak — she trusts enough to rest.

Graphite was chosen for its capacity to render deep shadows, delicate light, and a timeless atmosphere. The crimson is deliberately restrained, making the woman's dress the emotional focal point. Held emerged organically through the drawing process, at the intersection of beauty, power, mystery, spirituality, and darkness.
